Henryville Bluegrass Jam

If you want to have a really good bluegrass experience, take a ride up I-65 to the Henryville Bluegrass Association.   The Henryville Bluegrass Association has been around since the 1980s.  Like many bluegrass associations, Henryville has regular elections of board members and each new set of leaders works hard to keep bluegrass music alive and thriving.  The club owns a building that seats about 100 people and has plenty of outdoor parking.

Henryville is a friendly bluegrass club.  There’s no charge for admission (although they do pass a can around for donations) and their very nice stage is open to anyone who plays traditional bluegrass music.  Anyone who wants to play on stage needs to sign up at around 5pm, and those who come without a band can always find a group that needs a picker.  For those who prefer parking lot picking, the club has an acre sized lot that offers jammers plenty of room to spread out.  Henryville is a great place to come on the second and fourth Saturday of every month to have fun, meet new pickers, and enjoy good bluegrass music.  The jamming starts in the afternoon at around three during the summer.  The stage show starts at around six and usually goes until ten.

To get to the Henryville Bluegrass Association:

Take Interstate 65 north to exit 19.  Go right (east) off the exit to the four way stop.  Turn left at the four way stop. The Henryville Community Center is a small white building on the left, about 1/10 mile past the four way

 stop.
